The Facebook-Free Baby →

Just read this article about parents documenting the lives of their children on Social Media. We are apart of “Generation-C” (C stands for Connected apparently): Adults between 18-34 that are characterized by their technologically endowed lives.
I hate that that blurb describes me. I don’t know if its a good or a bad thing that nothing about our personal lives are private any more. There is definitely no mystery left. Worst of all, I hate that we eliminate this choice for our children by automatically documenting their lives.

Its a long article, but definitely worth a skim, if not a read.

“Sitting for long periods of time — when you don’t stand up, don’t move at all — tends to cause changes physiologically within your muscles. You stop breaking up fat in your blood stream, you start getting accumulations of fat … in your liver, your heart and your brain. You get sleepy. You gain weight. You basically are much less healthy than if you’re moving.”

If you’re reading this Tumblr post while sitting down, stand up! Here’s more reasons why. (via nprfreshair)

Maurice Sendak, author of Where The Wild Things Are, dies at 83
Maurice Sendak, the wildly talented, often cantankerous children’s book author and illustrator of Where The Wild Things Are, has died. He was 83 years old.

“I refuse to lie to children,” Sendak told The Guardian in an interview last year. “I refuse to cater to the bullshit of innocence.” (Photos: AP)

I’ll admit, I wasn’t really a huge fan on Where the Wild Things Are, but Maurice Sendak also illustrated Little Bear, which I loved! A serious loss

Life’s Observations

It never ceases to amaze me when two people can experience the exact same situation and take such vastly different perspectives on it. The baffling part is that, oftentimes, no amount of language will ever allow one person to convince the other person of their reasoning and vice versa.

We all know that the world is never black and white, so why do we have such trouble seeing all the shades of grey?
